Tree trimming and pruning is the most common tree maintenance procedure. Tree trimming is desirable or necessary to remove dead branches, improve tree structure, enhance vigor and maintain safety. By pruning to promote good structure in young trees, they will likely remain serviceable in the landscape for many years longer than trees that have not been structurally pruned. Waiting until trees grow larger makes structured pruning much more difficult and more expensive.
On mature trees, large branch removal is less desirable than it is on young trees, but sometimes necessary. Crown cleaning to remove dead, diseased, or broken branches is a recommended practice on mature trees.
We use structural-selective pruning to improve tree and branch architecture for young and medium-aged trees and hazard reduction pruning. We use selective pruning for structure clearance and visible hazards.
Structure pruning is done to engineer a sustainable trunk, branches and to influence orientation, spacing, growth rate, and strength of attachments. All of R.O. Landscape & Tree Service's trimming and pruning is done in accordance with American National Standards Institute A300 publication (ANSI A300) and ANSI Z133 safety standards.
